A legacy reimagined.
A home with a soul.
Welcome to Forest Trail—one of Vail’s most distinctive mountain homes, nestled in the heart of Cascade Village. Originally designed by Gordon Pierce, the visionary behind Vail’s most iconic landmarks including The Lodge at Vail, Gorsuch, and the Sonnenalp, this residence has always reflected the charm and soul of the valley.
When Michael Horton set out to update Forest Trail, it wasn’t to erase the past—it was to elevate it. In collaboration with architect Katrina Eckelhoff, the home’s floor plan was thoughtfully reimagined to bring in more light, create stronger connections between spaces, and honor the original architecture while enhancing its function for modern living.
Interior designers Amy Casey and Megan Hudacky played a key role in shaping the interior experience, curating a rich blend of texture, tone, and flow that balances sophistication with comfort. Their design captures the playful, funky spirit of 70s and 80s Vail while introducing a crisp mountain-modern aesthetic rooted in craftsmanship and intention.
Forest Trail isn’t just a luxury rental, it’s a living tribute to Vail’s history, soul, and style. A place where design has depth, the surroundings are sacred, and every stay feels like coming home.
